Our Commitment to Gender Equality and Women’s Leadership
The Livelihood Support to Women Through Tailoring Training Project was successfully implemented to strengthen the economic empowerment and leadership potential of Rohingya refugee women in Cox’s Bazar. Over a six-month period, the project provided comprehensive tailoring and sewing skills training to 20 Rohingya women, equipping them with practical vocational skills essential for income generation and self-reliance.

“Empowering a woman is not charity; it is an investment in resilience, dignity, and the future.”
Beyond technical training, the project integrated basic entrepreneurship education and psychosocial support, enabling participants to build confidence, enhance decision-making abilities, and develop leadership skills within their households and communities. The initiative placed strong emphasis on women’s dignity, economic independence, and social inclusion, creating a safe and supportive learning environment for participants.

As a result, trained women gained the capacity to contribute to household income, reduce dependency on aid, and preserve and promote traditional Rohingya designs, reinforcing cultural identity alongside economic resilience. The project has positively impacted household stability and strengthened community cohesion, while advancing gender equality and women’s leadership within the refugee camps.

“From learners to earners, Rohingya women are redefining strength inside the refugee camps.”
Overall, this successful intervention demonstrates how targeted livelihood initiatives can foster women-led resilience, sustainable income opportunities, and long-term empowerment in humanitarian settings.
