
Maung Thein Myint (also known as Moshor Rof) is a Rohingya Human Rights Defender, Refugee Advocate, Research Assistant, and Conflict & Documentary Researcher. Originally from northern Rakhine State, Myanmar, he is currently residing in the Rohingya refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, where he has been actively engaged in research, advocacy, and community empowerment initiatives.
He serves as a Research Associate and Rohingya Resource Person for the Conflict and Resilience Research Institute Canada (CRRIC), a well-known peace and conflict research organization. His diverse professional experience includes work in research, human rights and gender equality, project management, programme operations, documentary and conflict analysis, transcription, interpretation, translation, and migration reporter.
His work focuses heavily on the Rohingya refugee crisis, the dynamics of forced displacement, regional conflicts, human trafficking networks, and security issues affecting vulnerable populations in the camps and across Southeast Asia.
Maung Thein Myint possesses deep insights into the humanitarian challenges and geopolitical factors that impact the Rohingya community. He is dedicated to advocating for the rights and well-being of the Rohingya people through his involvement with CRRIC and RAEN. As part of his advocacy work, he frequently organizes and conducts awareness sessions within the camps. These sessions aim to engage various community groups, including children, elders, women, teachers, youth, and adults, with the goal of rebuilding and empowering the community. Through his efforts, he seeks to raise awareness, promote education, and foster a greater understanding of the complex issues surrounding the Rohingya crisis, while also working toward long-term solutions for those affected.
